Akshay Kumar is at par with Shah Rukh Khan in the 100 crore club who also has six films in the tally to his credit. Let us tell you how...
Are you surprised? We aren’t at all…
Akshay Kumar‘s Rustom had everything it takes for a film to become a hit. There was suspense, thrill, romance and a courtroom drama we always long to watch. His fans rooted for his film so widely that it is earning a lot of money at the box office. In fact, it has already crossed the 100 crore mark making it Akshay’s sixth film to reach that mark. Now, he is at par with Shah Rukh Khan in the tally who also has six 100 crore films to his credit namely, Chennai Express, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Happy New Year, Ra. One, Dilwale and Don 2. Let us tell you how…Rowdy Rathore
Box office: 133. 35 cr
Rowdy Rathore was a remake of a South Indian film which was made in many languages including Bengali. Akshay Kumar’s double role in the film was fantastic. The film reached the 100 crore mark in 11 days. The film’s music had caught up really well making it even more appealing to the audience who just thronged the theatres when the film released. He played the character of a Police Officer and a thief with equal ease.
Airlift
Box office: 127. 80 cr
This is one real life story not many know about. Akshay Kumar decided to not only say it on celluloid but make it a compelling watch as well. India had carried on the biggest evacuation in the world and Airlift depicted it sincerely. That says a lot of about the film. It had released at a time when people didn’t find a reason to be patriotic enough for the country and Airlift gave them one. Hence, the film entered the 100 crore club with such ease.
Holiday -A Soldier Is Never Off Duty
Box office: 112. 18 cr
This film deserved to be in the 100 crore club. Holiday was the Hindi remake of Vijay’s Tamil hit Thupakki and is an exact replica. We are really glad that Akshay decided to be part of this film because we don’t think anyone else could have done justice to the film. The stunts, the narrative was just brilliantly portrayed in the film. No wonder the film got such an overwhelming response.
Housefull 3
Box office: 109. 13 cr
Yet another Housefull got a houseful response upon release. Critics are of the opinion that this was perhaps the best in the franchise because the jokes weren’t bland but actually funny. Akshay’s split personality syndrome in the film got a hilarious reception. Sandy and Sundi both were funny.
Housefull 2
Box office: 106 cr
Housefull 2 cannot be called the best in the franchise but it earned 100 cr at the box office making it Akshay’s one of the biggest hits. The franchise has always earned money for the producers and this second installment didn’t disappoint either. Akshay’s quirky ‘Aye…’ ala Ranjeet style had become pretty popular, more so because the actor had emulated the dreaded villain of yesteryear perfectly. The film was a laugh riot.
Rustom
Box office: 82.28 cr (To be announced today)
Another film on a true story, Rustom brought the much hyped Nanavati case on the big screen which made the recent generation aware of a case of such nature. It was covered by the press widely and hence, deserved to be a Bollywood story. This is Akshay’s fastest 100 crore film ever and you know why. The actor was incredible as the naval officer and did justice to the role.
