CBFC's latest victim is next week's release, the much hyped Baar Baar Dekho. The film stars Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra and is directed by Nitya Mehra. Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani have jointly produced the film, which is romantic drama with elements of time travel.

The mysterious ways of Pahlaj Nihalani and co are inscrutable!

Well, we expected it, right?
Frankly, I am even bored to write the stuff after every damn release, but our Sanskaari Censor Board offers me new tidbits almost every week, so here we are.
CBFC’s latest victim is next week’s release, the much hyped Baar Baar Dekho. The film stars Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra and is directed by Nitya Mehra. Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani have jointly produced the film, which is romantic drama with elements of time travel.
Now what is it about Baar Baar Dekho that irked the Censor Board enough that they want to cut certain scenes from the film?
The first scene that the Censor Board had objections to was the depiction of a bra in the film. This is the second known time, the Board had shown this immense anger towards this piece of women’s clothing. Kangana Ranaut had earlier revealed in a public forum that the Censor Board had asked the makers to remove or blur a scene that showed a bra lying on the bed!
A source close the film spoke to DNA, “We don’t live in times where women’s innerwear is never spoken of in public. In fact, even as late as 1995, there was a scene featuring Kajol in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Moreover, BBD is directed by a woman (Nitya Mehra). To assume she’d use the lingerie scene for titillation is absurd.”
Another scene that Censor Board had objections to was the mention of Savita Bhabhi, who is a popular porn character. Apparently, Big Brother didn’t get the joke much, and thought the mere mention of her name is degrading to our culture (but this also proves that they are well aware of who she is…naughty naughty!). The aforementioned source has this to say about the cut, “We were asked to delete the reference. The name is used in a light-hearted manner in the film. If a porn reference is objectionable, how was Sunny Leone’s name used in A Flying Jatt?”
Interestingly, Baar Baar Dekho has been rated U/A, a rating which could have allowed space for the above two scenes. But then passing a film without recommended cuts is not how Censor Board members would like to start their day. Thankfully, we have not heard of the Censor guys having any problems with the number of kissing scenes a la SPECTRE which, in itself, is quite weird. Someone in there should learn the word ‘consistency’.
