The film dips some more

Tiger Shroff was perhaps looking to get his third consecutive hit after Heropanti and Baaghi. And why wouldn’t he aim for it? His debut film received much flak and jokes but it earned money. Baaghi’s collections competed with Shah Rukh Khan‘s Fan, so it was only obvious for him to end the year for him on a high note. But sometimes your best laid plans don’t go accordingly. A Flying Jatt which was supposed fly as its title suggests, couldn’t even take off well. After a decent opening weekend, the film is only slumping. With 2 crore first Tuesday earning, the film has earned only 33. 95 cr so far!
Trade Analyst, Taran Adarsh revealed on Twitter the figures. He wrote, “#AFlyingJatt Thu 7.10 cr, Fri 6 cr, Sat 7.35 cr, Sun 9 cr, Mon 2.50 cr, Tue 2 cr. Total: ₹ 33.95 cr. India biz.” The first tuesday of the week saw the film dip further. From 9 crore Sunday, the film went down to 2. 50 cr and now it has made only 2 crore. Tiger’s superhero turn didn’t please anyone. Not even kids warmed up to the film. The effect was seen in the numbers directly. The movie collected just Rs 7.10 crore on Thursday (day 1) even though A Flying Jatt released on a holiday (Janmasthami). Then on Friday (day 2) it saw a drop as it just collected Rs 6 crore. And even though it saw a growth on Saturday and Sunday, the film has underperformed. On day 3 (Saturday), A Flying Jatt collected Rs 7.35 crore and on day 4 (Sunday), it added another Rs 9 crore to its kitty to take the total tally to Rs 29.45 crore in the first weekend. Monday and Tuesday however saw a visible drop which severed its chances of ever recovering from the onslaught.

Tiger still has a really big film to look forward to. Karan Johar’s Student Of the Year sequel would be a great way to return back at the box office with a bang. The original gave Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra a debut they could only imagine and now the follow-up can help Tiger keep A Flying Jatt’s performance behind him. The female leads are yet to confirmed but we hope Karan will continue with the tradition of launching star kids with SOTY series.
