If you are done with Hollywood superheroes that have enthralled you over the summer, now it’s time to enjoy the antics of the local superhero. Tiger Shroff stars in and as A Flying Jatt, a film directed by Remo D’Souza. Jacqueline Fernandez plays the female lead in the film, while Kay Kay Menon and Nathan Jones are the villains.
The album for the film is out, and here’s our take on it…
Title track
A Punjabi song with full on swag, the title song of A Flying Jatt is definitely catchy and has a lot of funk. You have seen the video which has the kids taking on Tiger Shroff in his forte, dancing, and doing a brilliant job at it. Tanishkaa makes the proceedings zingy with her lively singing with able support from Mansheel Gujral and Raftaar.
Toota Jo Kabhi Taara
After the Punjabi swag in the title track, it’s time to take things slow and enjoy the romance in Toota Jo Kabhi Taara. Atif Aslam takes the mike here, joined by Sumedha Karmahe. The song is breezy and lovely, and the singers complement each other to give a very touchy feely love ballad. Like always Atif Aslam shines best when he reaches the high octanes, and the song provides him several opportunities.
Khair Mangda
Atif Aslam returns for the second in the album with Khair Mangda. A sad song, perhaps coming at the time after Flying Jatt is thrashed by the villain, Khair Mangda is filled with enough pathos and melancholy to make the right kind of impact. Is it the best song of the album? You can say that, though I have a slighter inclination towards the previous song. But there is no denying that Atif Aslam rocks again!
Bhangda Pa
The album sees a change in the tone again, as an upbeat Bhangda Pa follows a sad Khair Mangda. It’s a pretty lively Bhangda song with Vishal Dadlani, Divya Kumar and Asees Kaur doing their job pretty well. The song is fun while it lasts, but it pretty forgettable afterwards.
Beat Pe Booty
Finally that song arrives that made everyone from the common man to Hrithik Roshan shake their booty on video. Beat Pe Booty has all the ingredients of a chartbusters, and it delivers on every note. Thouh the use of autotune in a bit jarring, Sachin-Jigar, Vayu and Kanika Kapoor’s playful singing will let us ignore the little flaws. The song is already rocking the charts, and it deserves to be that.
Raj Karega Khalsa
You have heard this chant during the trailer when Tiger Shroff begins to train seriously for combating with the villain, and when he fighting him probably in the climax. The sentiment is strong in this one, and Daler Mehndi and Navraj Hans’s energetic singing makes you invest in the song. Will look good on screen when the hero takes on the villain.
Our verdict
Have not been a fan of the trailer much, but the songs are definitely doing a huge deal in boosting the chances of A Flying Jatt. Be it the title track or the romantic Toota Jab Taara or the very popular Beat Pe Booty, each song is having its own charm. A sure shot winner.
Our picks
Title track, Beat pe Booty, Toota Jo Kabhi Taara, Khair Mangda
