Disha Patani on Bangalore molestation: It frightens me to think how unsafe it is to stay out late

Everyone is currently enraged by the Bangalore molestation case. In fact, the video that has gone viral has further angered the nation to speak up against the filth of a society that we’re living in. The boys who sexually molested girls in the middle of a street that night were no hooligans, but are one of the shameless human race who know nothing about respecting women. While celebs like Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Anushka Sharma have already reacted against this disturbing issue by slamming boys who still see women as sex objects. Disha Patani has joined the brigade by citing her own fears of living alone in the city. Yes…
Through this heartfelt Facebook post, Disha who is here in Mumbai away from her family wrote, “Saddened and hurt by the mass molestation incident that took place in Bengaluru. As a girl who stays away from her family and constantly traveling on work, it frightens me to think of how unsafe it is to stay out late or wear outfits that might be deemed inappropriate, by not only lawbreakers but lawmakers too. These episodes just re-instill my belief that we need to be our own heroes – We have a long way to go on educating our social system but at this point I strongly feel that self defense is an absolute must for every woman out there. As someone with a background in gymnastics and martial arts, I know how empowered , safe and secure knowing a few basic self-defense techniques can make a woman/girl feel. Let’s get moving!”

Reminds us of Akshay’s video where he had voiced a similar opinion saying, “Girls, please don’t see yourselves weaker than men. You are very capable of safeguarding yourselves. There are quite a few self defence techniques in martial arts to fight these men. Kisi ke baap mein dum nahi ki aapke marzi ke bina aapko haath bhi lagaye. You don’t have to worry or get scared, you are no less than anybody around. Just be alert, learn self defence and the next time someone tries to advice on what you are wearing, then just tell them to keep their advice to themselves and mind your own business.”
You can see the intensity with which actors are reacting shows how much they are angered by this act. Not to mention, many celebs also lashed out at politician Abu Azmi’s comment on women’s dressing sense that causes molestation and rape in the country. While this incident occurred during New Years, the impact continues to haunt the country with women especially being terrified with the incident.
