Priyanka Chopra and Michelle Obama are collaborating for a special project – details here
Priyanka Chopra is all set to join hands with Michelle Obama, for girls’ education campaign. Michelle proposed the idea to PC long back in April,2016 when they met at the annual White House Correspondents Dinner. “She discussed about the work I do with UNICEF and how we should work together for the education of the girl child. It was like they knew all about me. Can you imagine being the head of State and having to keep in mind everyone, but being able to do that? That, to me, was impressive, ” Priyanka said in a statement.
The 34-year-old actress, who became a global celebrity with her character Alex Parrish in the American TV series Quantico, had mentioned about this campaign first in her Instagram post. She shared a photograph with the caption, “Lovely to meet the very funny and charming @barackobama and the beautiful @michelleobama . Thank you for a lovely evening. Cannot wait to start working on your girls education program.”
The education programme that they have joined hands for is called ‘Let Girls Learn’. It aims to facilitate education to 62 million girls worldwide, who at present do not go to school. Ex US President, Barack Obama is also a huge supporter of the campaign. The programme, which was launched in 2015, funds education projects like girls’ leadership camps and school bathrooms. It aims to educate girls in conflict zones and address poverty, HIV, and other issues that keep girls out of school.
The actress recently took to Insta to share her feelings on Obama’s farewell speech. She called it a ‘incredible legacy’. Priyanka will soon start promoting her film,Baywatch, which is scheduled to release on May 26, 2017. She will be seen essaying the role of Victoria Leeds, the villain. She also presented an award at the Golden Globes 2017 recently.
