Rajinikanth joins the protest against the Jallikattu ban
Protests are being held all over in Tamil Nadu against the ban by the Supreme Court on the traditional sport of Jallikattu. South superstar Rajinikanth has also joined the dharna, which has been held for a day by actors like Pavan Kalyan, Ajith, Dhanush, Chiyaan Vikram, Suriya and his younger brother Karthi among others.The Telugu superstar, who could not be present at the silent protest, extended his support through Twitter. The actor tweeted, “Proud to see such a statement of unity among Tamilians for something that they truly believe in. Especially admire the way the students of Tamil Nadu have been standing up for the cause, relentlessly fighting for their roots and culture. Hope their voices are heard. I support the spirit of Tamil Nadu. #JusticeforJallikattu.”
Pawan Kalyan took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the protest against Jallikattu. One of the pictures posted by him read, “Kodipandem is the cultural identity of ‘Andhras’ if the Central Govt is serious about enforcing ‘Animal Cruelty Act’ then they should ban ‘Poultry industry’ also; which produces around 8.4 lakhs tons of poultry meat by killing millions of chicken.”
The centuries-old tradition of bull worshipping called Jallikattu is now facing a ban by the Supreme Court of India. Dhanush too has come out in support of the protests against this ban. The actor took to Twitter and posted, “"Proud of each and every தமிழன் who came together to support #Jallikattu and our தமிழ் கலாச்சாரம். வெற்றி நிச்சயம். #unitedforourculture.”
Rana Daggubati tweeted, “Protests in the right direction!! Such amazing spirit!' #JusticeforJallikattu” and also shared a video wherein the protesters are cleaning the Marina Beach.
