Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan prove content is the king and not King Khan!

You will be amused and also a bit shocked to know that Bareilly Ki Barfi and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan are still running at the box office. And there is one reason behind that – CONTENT. Since the release of these two movies, a lot of big and small movies have hit the theatre but none could ouster them. In fact, Ayushmann Khurrana, who is the common thread between these two, will be amused to read this as well. 2017 has been a year of revelations. While the box office heavyweights faltered, films like BKB and SMS have shined and how! So it definitely is the story that is getting so liked by people. Let us tell you how these two films have survived the onslaught of so many releases at the box office and are still standing tall.

So Bareilly Ki Barfi released on August 18 while Shubh Mangal Saavdhan released on September 1. Post that many movies thronged the theatres and one of the them was a biggie called Baadshaho. The latter in fact clashed with SMS at the box office and earned decent for the makers. But a film which is laced with greats like Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi, you don’t expect such numbers. While SMS is still running, Baadshaho has slowed down considerably. Other movies that released were A Gentleman, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, Qaidi Band, Qaidi Band, Daddy, Simran and Lucknow Central. Apart from BB, none of these movies could make any impact at the box office which says it all. A Gentleman was expected to set the box office on fire because of the stylish way it was shot. In fact, many compared it to Hollywood but at the end, it turned out to be a bummer!
Add to it the disappointing performance of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal and Salman Khan’s Tubelight and you know what the audience is looking for at the box office. Both the films got slammed for their story which was unpalatable to the audience. BKB and SMS became hits purely on the basis of content and earnest performances. As of now, BKB has earned Rs 33.58 crore and SMS is on Rs 39.18 crore.
Time for the Khans to take note!
