The Kapil Sharma Show: Sonakshi Sinha tackles a body-shamer while Kapil Sharma gets trolled for not knowing Marathi
Sonakshi Sinha was on The Kapil Sharma Show to promote her movie, Noor.
Sunil Grover or not, The Kapil Sharma Show has not been my favourite when it comes to delivering the laughs.Sure, I agree some of Kapil Sharma‘s
wisecracks and quips are funny, and if you have equally humorous guests
on the show, like say a Shah Rukh Khan or Govinda. But that doesn’t
always happen. I am not saying the current and former team-mates of
Kapil Sharma are not a talented bunch, they surely are, as Sunil Grover
gave us more than a taste of during the Indian Indol finale. It’s just
that most of the jokes they write fall flat, and unless your name
happens to be Navjot Singh Sidhu, the max you may react to these skits
and puns may be a feeble chuckle.
Tonight’s episode is no different as more and more stale jokes happened. Sure there were some interesting aspects that happened like Raju Shrivastav and co doing a mimic act of Amitabh Bachchan, Suneil Shetty (but the actor looking more like Himesh Reshammiya), Akshay Kumar and Sunny Deol. The mimicry skills are all fine, but the gags don’t work after some time.
Then as always, the best part came with Sonakshi Sinha coming to promote her movie, Noor. Since the movie has some women empowerment themes, as it is about a single girl struggling to make her name in journalism in the busy city of Mumbai, we had certain audience members embarrassingly complain about various image issues. A couple of ladies lamented’ about how men, who may not look like Akshay Kumar, but they certainly want girls to be like Sonakshi Sinha. A Surd talked about how his girlfriend is on the healthy side (implying fat, which he clarifies later) for some random reason. I wanted Sonakshi to blast him, and she did troll him a bit, but she softened when he sang a song and declared that the girlfriend will forgive him. So does that mean singers can get away with body shaming just because they have a good voice? No way!
Then Shibani Dandekar, the singer who also happens to play Sonakshi Sinha’s best friend in Noor, arrived and she declared at the start itself that she can’t speak Hindi, though she can sing Hindi songs. But then she shows off her Marathi skills, and even trolls Kapil Sharma for not knowing the language, even after staying in the city for so many years. Kapil, for once, looked non-plussed.
BTW, Kapil, a request for you! Stop plugging your upcoming movie, Firangi, in every damn episode. We know that you are playing the main lead in your own productions, so please don’t shove that down our throats every time.
