Prabhas is one of the most talented actors in India, but not many of us knew about him before Baahubali: The Beginning happened. While the actor is huge name down South, especially in Telugu cinema, he wasn’t so popular up North. But Baahubali changed everything. Prabhas is now a known name and everyone has raved about his part in SS Rajamouli‘s
magnum opus. But little do people know about Prabhas’ track record at
the box office before the movie. Let us tell you that the actor debuted
with Telugu film, Eeshwar in 2002 and 15 years and 17 films
later, Prabhas has amassed a total of Rs 875 crore at the box office!
But not all his films have been super hits like Baahubali: The Beginning. Though the actor has seen many ups and downs at the box office, he has always made sure that his producers make profits.
If you look at his track record, you will realise that he has had just one mega hit till now – Baahubali: The Beginning, which earned Rs 500 crore (all versions) at the domestic market. And though his first few films did not set the box office on fire, he has delivered several decent hits like Mirchi (Rs 48.10 crore), Rebel (Rs 35 crore), Darling (Rs 29 crore), Yogi (Rs 25 crore) and Chatrapathi (Rs 25 crore). Raking in Rs 875.45 crore through 18 films is definitely a feat and not many stars can boast of such a record. But all this has been possible courtesy Baahubali: The Beginning. Talking about Prabhas’ stardom, trade expert Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor) mentions, “Through Baahubali, Prabhas has reached a level where is he right up there in terms of popularity in the Telugu cinema, in terms of craze, in terms of draw at the box office and much more. There is no doubt about his capabilities. He is now in the league of Ram Charan, Ravi Teja, Mahesh Babu and all these guys. With part 2 of Baahubali, his popularity will surely soar, so great times ahead for him.”
