made their debut at the MET Gala 2017 in New York last week. Of course
the fashion police across the globe was keeping a close watch on the
gorgeous ladies. It was an outing that could have helped their names go
down in history, had they got it right. But it turns out that only
Priyanka could manage to do something noteworthy with her look.
The theme of this year’s MET Gala was Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons. One was expected to dress up in the most artsy dresses that they could and let their freak flag fly. While Priyanka chose a quirky long train Ralph Lauren trenchcoat inspired gown and set a benchmark with her fashion sense, Deepika went vanilla with a white evening gown. Not just us, even the Western media was not a fan of the xXx: Return of Xander Cage actress’ OOTN. But fans are the ultimate jury, so we asked our readers to pick the better dressed between the two. Agreeing with us and the western media, fans, too, picked Priyanka over Deepika. The former received a whopping 60 per cent votes favouring her. That is huge!
Rihanna, too, was found to be throwing a shade at Deepika’s basic dress. She liked a meme which said how the guests were supposed to dress vs how they dressed. The dress in the meme was uncannily similar to Deepika’s. All in all, this was a big opportunity missed by Deepika. But Priyanka has made it to many best-dress listicles in various fashion publications.
Well, talking about her MET Gala debacle Deepika, at another event in India, said, “I think the focus is too much on the clothes. The idea is to have fun. I am sure my team will come up with something amazing but the idea is to keep it fun. The only time I will allow any sort of comment on my attire is when the flak comes from my mother or my girlfriends,” To each his own, we guess!
