Whoa! Katrina Kaif to play the female lead in Shahid Kapoor’s Roshni?

Some time back, we had told you that Katrina Kaif might be planning to make her Hollywood debut soon in a movie that could have Avengers star Jeremy Renner. Now we hear that she is going to bag another big project, not in Hollywood, but back home. If a report in Mid-Day has to be believed, she is being considered as the female lead in Shahid Kapoor’s next with Toilet – Ek Prem Katha director Shree Narayan Singh. Tentatively titled Roshni, the movie has Shahid Kapoor playing a lawyer fighting corruption in the electricity board while, if she is in, Katrina Kaif will play his guide and philosopher. Also if things work out, this will be the first time Shahid Kapoor and Katrina Kaif will be paired up for the first time in a movie.
A source close to the creative team told the paper, “Shree Narayan Singh gave Katrina a narration before she left for Los Angeles. She loved the story and is keen to collaborate with him. She has already asked her team to work out further details. The creative team loved the fresh pairing of Shahid and Katrina. She is in Los Angeles to apparently chart out her debut in Hollywood. Once she returns, she is expected to sign on the dotted line after finalising the dates and remuneration.”
However when the paper was in touch the director, he replied, “I haven’t decided on the female lead yet.” So it looks like they are still working out on the finer details of her contract.
Earlier speaking to a newspaper, Shree Narayan Singh spoke about working with Shahid for the first time, as he said, “With films like Kaminey, Jab We Met, Haider and Udta Punjab, Shahid has proved his mettle as an actor. To top that his star presence is undeniable and I look forward to working with him.” While Shahid said, “It took me a while to decide what I wanted to do after a film like Padmavati. However when I read the script and met Sree and Prernaa, I made up my mind. I feel privileged to be part of this fantastic team.”
