Jacqueline Fernandez to step into Emily Blunt’s shoes for The Girl On The Train remake

While her British film, Definition of Fear, is yet to be released, Jacqueline Fernandez is going to play the main lead in the Bollywood remake of a popular Hollywood movie, The Girl On The Train. The original, while not a huge success, is an adaptation of a best-selling novel by the same name, written by Paula Hawkins. This news was confirmed by Ribhu, who previously made Amitabh Bachchan’s Te3N, to Mumbai Mirror, after buying the official rights to remake the movie in Bollywood. The director has been working on the script for the past few months, and it was only recently that he got Jacqueline on board the project.
Speaking to the paper about the adaptation, the director said, “I have just finished the script.Jackie has come on board as the protagonist. While the novel had an ensemble cast, our film will revolve around her character. I have been looking forward to working with her and this seemed like a perfect project to collaborate. You get together to make a film when people think alike in many ways and when I had met her I discovered we were on the same page.”
A source close to the project revealed, “The film will be set in a small town but the makers are yet to figure whether they will be filming in India or abroad. Ribhu and his team will begin their recce soon and will start prepping up with Jacqueline by the year-end.”
Jacqueline Fernandez, who is riding on the success of Judwaa 2 (co-starring Varun Dhawan and Taapsee Pannu), is looking a really plum project with this remake, getting an author backed role after Roy. She will be stepping into Emily Blunt‘s shoes in the remake. The original movie is about how an alcoholic divorcee, played by Blunt, used to get fascinated by a couple staying in a house near the railway track as she commutes back home. She is drawn to their lives especially when the wife goes missing, and the husband end up being the main suspect.
