Ram Kapoor to play a character inspired by Harvey Weinstein in a web movie?

If reports are to be believed Ram Kapoor has been approached to play a character inspired by disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein in a web movie. Titled Casting Couch Ouch, the movie is directed by Shailendra Singh, who is also producing it. The makers are in talks with the Bade Achche Lagte Hai actor and they will shoot the movie over the next ten days.
Speaking to Mid-Day, the director confirmed the news that he is looking to cast Ram Kapoor in the lead. He also spoke about how they remodelled the character after Weinstein and how hopefully they would call out the casting couch malpractice in Bollywood too. He said, “We reworked the character of the producer and based him on Harvey Weinstein. We are in talks with Ram Kapoor for the role, as he has a similar build to that of Harvey. We will be shooting the film over the next 10 days. I felt that if we address the issue in our film, it will send shivers down the spines of many in Bollywood. We hope to create awareness at large. The Weinstein episode is just as relevant here. I think the casting couch still exists in Bollywood. The young generation of actresses may be sharp, but as an insider in the film circuit, I know that they still have uncomfortable experiences during their auditions today.” Shailendra Singh promised that his movie would bring to light the action of many powerful men in Bollywood who are as lecherous as Weinstein if not more.
Harvey Weinstein, the popular Hollywood producer, has been accused by more than 40 actresses and celebs of sexual harassment and casting couch. He has been removed from the board of his own company as well as from the boards of Academy Awards and The Producer’s Guild. Hollywood is going through a huge turmoil as a result of this scandal, with more and more women coming out and levelling allegations against the producers. Even top stars like Matt Damon and Russel Crowe are not spared for trying to suppress past news articles about Weinstein.
